Beginning Wednesday afternoon, horses at Churchill Downs will be running for 20 percent less money.
The purse cuts, announced last week, prompted horse trainers and owners to meet Tuesday evening to consider how to deal with the decrease, which they see as retaliation for demanding more money from Internet betting.
Leaders of the horse industry urged members to continue blocking Internet wagering on Churchill Downs until the racetrack agrees to negotiations.
