Nov. 9, 2002: A Gatorade bath for Guy Morriss. Kentucky fans celebrating on a goal post as the final horn sounds. Victory fireworks going off over Commonwealth Stadium. And LSU’s Devery Henderson turning Marcus Randall’s Hail Mary heave into a game-winning 75-yard TD for the Tigers.
Oct. 4, 1997: Tim Couch’s 26-yard TD pass to Craig Yeast in overtime did more than give UK its first victory over Alabama since 1922, it also brought the Commonwealth Stadium goal posts down for the first time in history.
Sept. 14, 2007: In the most hyped Governor’s Cup battle in history, Andre Woodson hit Steve Johnson on a 57-yard touchdown bomb with 28 seconds left in the game to lift UK over the No. 9 Cardinals.
Nov. 24, 1984: When George Adams, Paul Calhoun & Co. walked out of Neyland Stadium with The Beer Barrel, who would have ever dreamed that, 24 games later, it would still be the last time UK has beaten Tennessee.
Nov. 24, 2007: Down 31-14 in the third quarter, UK rallied furiously behind the stellar play of Jacob Tamme (nine catches, 104 yards) and, in the second overtime, found itself a 34-yard field goal from ending what was then a 22-game losing streak against the Vols. The kick was blocked and The Streak lived.
Oct. 22, 1988: Alfred Rawls of Pitts, Ga., broke a 48-yard TD run in the third period and the UK defense made it stand up to give the Cats a win over the highest-ranked team (No. 11) it beat in the 1980s.
Dec. 29, 1984: Joey Worley hit a school-record 52-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to allow George Adams, Paul Calhoun & Co. to score their ninth win with an upset of the No. 19 Badgers.
Sept. 5, 1998: There are house warmings and then there was the nuclear explosion Tim Couch (seven TD passes) unleashed to spoil the first game in Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium.
Dec. 29, 2006: Andre Woodson threw three TD passes and UK scored its first bowl victory in 22 years (and a bit of revenge for Marty Moore).
Dec. 31, 1993: It seems unfair that one of the best players in UK history, Marty Moore, went out by fumbling back to Clemson what would have been a game-saving interception for UK had he just fallen down when he caught the ball.
Nov. 1, 2003: The longest game ever played in Commonwealth Stadium saw UK within one play of victory five different times, but the Cats could not close.
Sept. 2, 2000: “The Lightning Game” saw Mother Nature stop play in the third quarter, UK miss a chip-shot field goal at the end of regulation, and Louisville’s Tony Stallings win the game with a 25-yard jaunt in OT.
Sept. 1, 2002: A fierce UK defensive front led by Dewayne Robertson pounded Louisville quarterback Dave Ragone and Guy Morriss’s Cats stunned the No. 17 Cards.
Jan. 1, 1999: In its first New Year’s Day Bowl in 47 years, Kentucky roared to a 14-3 lead behind two Tim Couch TD passes but Joe Paterno’s defense stifled Hal Mumme’s offense in the final three quarters.
