  • Reports say Iran's Baha'i leaders "sentenced"

    NEW YORK — The Baha'i International Community has received reports indicating that seven Iranian Baha'i leaders have each received jail sentences of 20 years. The two women and five men have been held in Tehran's notorious Evin prison since they were arrested in 2008 – six of them on 14 May and one of them two months earlier.

  • Kentucky Baha'i School over labor Day weekend

    Hello friends, I am now a stay at home mom, which is why I haven't had the time to post anything for the last three weeks. haha! We had a fantastic Baha'i School at the Lidership center at Lake Cumberland. This annual summer school, is a fantastic gathering of many families of friends. Little children run around so free and joyful, it is hard to say which child belongs to which parent.

  • Trial Postponed

    GENEVA — The trial of seven Baha’i leaders imprisoned in Iran has been postponed until October 18, 2009 , the Baha’i International Community learned today. According to Diane Ala’i, the Baha’i International Community representative to the United Nations in Geneva, following a request for postponement of the trial from Mr. Hadi Elsmaielzadeh and Ms.

  • Baha'i Float of Fourth of July Parade Wins Award

    This post is late. I wanted to write about this a while back, but with traveling and other things, I didn't manage to. The Baha'i Community put together a float for the Fourth of July parade. THis is our fourth year of participation in this event, and it is fantastic. We had about 30 participants either riding the float or walking the parade route to pass out information about the faith.

  • The New Year and other Happy Events

    Hello everybody, Sorry I have been so absent. Since the last post, the Bahá’ís of Lexington have celebrated Naw-Ruz, or the New Year, on the evening of March 20 th . We held a party at the Communality House where Persian food, lasagna and other treats were served. The house was packed! And what diversity; you would think this was the United Nations headquarters.
