After 5-year wait, Danville winery releases syrah

Dominique Brousseau, winemaker for Chateau du Vieux Corbeau winery in Danville, has released a 2004 syrah after aging the wine for five years.

The syrah is a smooth, full-bodied dry classic red. Brousseau also has rereleased her Rio Samba blush, a fruity, semi-sweet wine that is a blend of three wines named after a rose in the Chateau garden.

Music at Jean Farris Winery

Jean Farris Winery and Bistro is kicking off the holiday season with a weekend of activities. A selection of Christmas carols will be presented by violinist Agatha Clixby from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, and classical harpist Elaine Cook will entertain from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday. Holiday lunch at Holly Hill Inn

Holly Hill Inn's holiday luncheon is back. The restaurant, 426 North Winter Street, Midway, will serve a three-course luncheon menu from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Featured are country ham cheddar biscuits, oyster gratin, cider-glazed ham, steak with tipsy raisins, roast beef, trout, vegetarian pie, mint julep bread pudding, caramel apple tart, coconut macaroon, and jam cake. Hanna's newest 'stimulus plan'

Hanna's on Lime, 214 South Limestone, is offering "Step 3" of its "stimulus plan." Bring a receipt dated the same or previous day from any retail business in the South Limestone construction zone and get 20 percent off your check, owner Beth Hanna said. The deal ends Dec. 23. Tea and brunch at Shaker Village

Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill is celebrating the holidays with teas and brunch. Festive teas are served 2 to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday during December in the Trustees' Office dining room. The cost is $10.95.

You can pick up some Kentucky items for gift-giving at the Shaker craft store, which will have an open house from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 5.

Shaker Village will serve a brunch buffet on New Year's Day featuring stuffed pork loin, smoked salmon and Shaker lemon pie. Hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $26.95.

Bristol holds AIDS benefit

On Wednesday, all locations of the Bristol Bar and Grille in and around Louisville will be participating in Dining fund-raising event that raises money for AIDS service organizations. Twenty percent of food sales during dinner will benefit the House of Ruth/ Glade House, an alcohol- and drug-free supportive communal living environment that aims to help people recover from addiction. The hours for Dining Out for Life are 5 to 9 p.m. The restaurant at 6051 Timber Ridge Drive in Prospect also will offer a four-course prix fixe dinner for $28 in addition to the regular menu.
