Equine leaders invited to Horse Council class

The Kentucky Horse Council will present ”Engaging Volunteers by Tapping into their Strengths and Interests“ as part of its on-going Professional Horseman's Series, designed to provide networking, support and continued education for equine leaders in Kentucky.

The workshop-style class, taught by Lori Garkovich of the University of Kentucky, will be July 15 at 1500 Bull Lea Road.

All equine associations with paid memberships in the Kentucky Horse Council may send one participant to this class at no charge; all other individuals will be charged a tuition fee of $15, which includes all materials and instruction.

Kidney disease seminar

Central Baptist Hospital will be hosting an informational session on the prevention of kidney disease from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 22 at Fayette Mall beside the children's play area. Physicians from Baptist Physicians of Lexington will discuss information pertaining to kidney disease and answer questions. Call (859) 260-6253.

Recycling e-waste

Old televisions, computers, cell phones and more can be recycled at the Versailles Road Government Campus, 1306 Versailles Road, from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Friday and 7 a.m. to noon Saturday.

The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government's Division of Waste Management will conduct this electronic waste (e-waste) event. They will accept televisions (no console units), audio visual equipment such as turntables, VCRs, DVD players, radios, cell phones, microwaves and computer components such as printers, monitors and central processing units. In addition, residents can now drop off fluorescent light bulbs (both tubes and the new compact fluorescent bulbs) and mercury thermostats.
