Military notes

Graduations

Army Reserve Pfc. Richard A. Abney of Berea has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. Abney is a 2005 graduate of Madison Southern High School.

Army Pfc. David R. Loveday of Lexington has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Loveday is a 2007 graduate of Henry Clay High School, Lexington.

Enlistments

Dana R. Jackson has joined the United States Army under the Delayed Entry Program. The program gives young men and women the opportunity to delay entering active duty for up to one year and pays up to $50,000 toward a college education. Jackson, a 2006 graduate of North Laurel High School in London, has reported to Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C., for basic training.
