Health fair designed for women
Women's Health Day will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the Jessamine County Career and Technology Center on Wilmore Road. Blood-pressure checks; EKGs; cholesterol, body fat, glucose, hearing and vision tests, and more will be offered. Call (859) 885-4149, Ext. 1006.
Wine and Vine Fest begins Thursday
The Kentucky Wine and Vine Fest, the official wine festival of Kentucky, begins Thursday.
The festival itself will be Saturday on York Street in downtown Nicholasville Saturday. The arts and crafts area opens at 10 a.m. Wine tents will be open from noon to 8 p.m., with 10 Kentucky wineries offering tastings. Tickets are $10 for 10 tastings. Demonstrations of cooking with wine will be 1 to 4 p.m. Entertainment will include live Dixieland and string music.
Other events:
■ A golf scramble will begin at 8:30 a.m. Friday at Connemara Golf Club, Nicholasville. Registration is $75. Prizes will be awarded. Call Russell at (859) 885-4331.
■ Bus tours of four Kentucky wineries — Chrisman Mill, Talon, Jean Farris and Acres of Land — begin at 9 a.m. Friday. Tickets are $65; lunch and tastings included.
■ The Grape Growers barbecue and dance will be 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday at the R.J. Corman Hangar on the U.S. 27 Bypass. The grape grower of the year will be honored. Music by Kristi Miller. Tickets are $15.
■ A wine dinner and dance will be 6 to 10 p.m. Friday at Chrisman Mill Winery in Nicholasville. Tickets are $50 and include dinner and a wine tasting featuring Kentucky wines. Medals for the amateur wine-making competition and commercial wine competition will be presented, with music by David Hummell Sextet and a silent auction.

Cheerleading squads finish in top 3
Squads from Jessamine Ice All-Star Cheerleading received a national runner-up title and a third place overall at the Elite Cheer Nationals in Columbus, Ohio, on March 29 and 30.
