Jessamine | Riding arena planned

The newly formed Jessamine Equine Enthusiasts has announced plans to work with the county to build a 300-foot by 150-foot all-purpose riding arena at the agricultural center. The group hopes to increase county and city tourism revenue by hosting 4-H and Pony Club camps, horse shows, educational clinics, club meetings and training sessions. 'Ambassadors' needed

The Jessamine County Chamber of Commerce is seeking Chamber Ambassadors for 2010. If you like to meet people from all types of businesses and help out at fun community events, you are invited to be a Chamber Ambassador. Youth camp opens

The Ernie Hatfield Youth Camp held its grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony Oct. 25 at 314 Sycamore Lane in Nicholasville. Attendees enjoyed an old-fashioned picnic, games and nature trails. The lodge is on 75 acres along Hickman Creek and can accommodate 50 people with a full-service kitchen and restroom facilities. The camp will be open to churches, organizations, businesses and families to rent for meetings, reunions, retreats, camping and weddings. Contact Dale Suttles at (859) 231-8181.

Race winners announced

The 6K Run for Ralph and Ryan brought out 230 runners and walkers and hundreds of onlookers to the Maple Street route between West and East Jessamine High schools in Nicholasville. Brian Troyer, Jeff Walker and David Trimble were the top men's finishers, and Libby Barnes, Courtney West and Cheryl Nesselroade were the top women's finishers. The Oct. 11 event, which was part of the nationwide Second Sunday fitness-awareness day, paid tribute to the memory of local heroes Ryan Robinson and Ralph Sallee. 3 Kentuckians honored

Wesley Village Senior Living Community of Wilmore recently honored three Kentuckians. The 13th Annual Heroes, Saints and Legends Awards Banquet was held Oct. 6 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Lexington. Honorees at this year's banquet were Louisville businessman Robert Holloway, Wilmore physician and missionary Phyllis Corbitt and United Methodist pastor Harold Dorsey. Proceeds from the evening benefit Wesley Village's "Celebrate the Difference!" campaign to build Kentucky's first "small home" for long-term health and memory care. Skate Jam results

The 2009 Lake Skate Jam was held Oct. 3 at Lake Mingo Park in Nicholasville. The free 17-and-under event was sponsored by Loki Skate Shop and YMCA of Jessamine County. Results are:

■ Advanced: 1st, Micah Wu; 2nd, Elijah Jones; 3rd, Cotie Robinson.

■ Intermediate: 1st, Saunty Wagers; 2nd, Hunter Damon; 3rd, Francis Eble.

■ Beginner: 1st, Dior Meads; 2nd, Jared Miler; 3rd, Travis Baker.
