Principal named for new school

Ken Bicknell has been named principal of the new B. Michael Caudill Middle School, expected to open for the 2009-10 school year. Construction of the school, named after former Madison County Schools Superintendent B. Michael Caudill, will start this summer. Bicknell has served in the Madison County School District for the past 15 years variously as teacher, guidance counselor and currently the assistant principal at Madison Southern High School since 2003.

Arts Council plans big Derby festival

The Richmond Area Arts Council, corner of Water Street and Lancaster Avenue in downtown Richmond, will celebrate the Kentucky Derby with Brunch and an Arts Festival starting at 9 a.m. Saturday morning. Music will be provided by The Carwiles and the Cabin Boys. The festival will feature local artists and crafts people.
