State trooper, 3 others hurt in chase

STAFF, WIRE REPORTS

A Kentucky State Police trooper was hurt Saturday in a crash on Interstate 65 near Smiths Grove while chasing a stolen motorcycle. While in pursuit, Trooper John Holbrook rear-ended a vehicle that slowed in his lane, according to state police. Holbrook and the driver and passenger of the car were taken to hospitals and then released.

The motorcycle continued weaving in and out of northbound traffic on I-65 until it hit a KSP vehicle driven by Trooper Jeremy Smith, who was not injured. The cyclist, Wallace F. Peterson III of Madison, Tenn., was thrown in the crash. He was flown to University of Louisville Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition Sunday .
