Third baby for tiny Kentucky mother

Stacey Herald, of Dry Ridge, is having her third baby, according to The Mirror of London, England. The Herald-Leader reported on Stacey Herald in 2008 when the 28 1/2 inch tall woman was pregnant with her second child. When her second baby was born, the Guiness Book of World Records was investigating if she was the world's smallest mother.

Kentucky had some good grades and some bad in a national report on schools by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Center for American Progress, and Frederick M. Hess of the American Enterprise Institute. The state received a failing grade in the state's ability to remove ineffective teachers. Kentucky received its highest grade (B) in three areas: Data; Pipeline to Postsecondary; and Technology. From the report: "Sixty-four percent of principals say that teacher unions or associations are a barrier to the removal of ineffective teachers, and 86% of principals report that tenure is a barrier to the removal of poor-performing teachers."

A report by the Surface Transportation Policy Partnership and Transportation for America lists the most dangerous cities for pedestrians. Louisville is the seventh most dangerous metropolitan area in the U.S., based on rate of pedestrian deaths relative to the amount of walking that residents do on average. Within the state of Kentucky, Lexington is the fourth most dangerous city to pedestrians.

Brian R. Mefford, the chief executive officer of Connected Nation and former director of ConnectKentucky, is speaking to a group of information technology representatives in Malaysia, according to the Malaysia Star. The conference theme "Innovation Economy: Paving the Path to Prosperity," is intended to guide the Malaysian information economy.
