Woman pleads not guilty to manslaughter

- slannen@herald-leader.com

A Lexington woman pleaded not guilty Thursday to hitting and killing a pedestrian with a Porsche.

Sheila A. Whitler, 40, was driving the silver sports car last November that struck John Vice, 31, who was crossing Man o’ War Boulevard near Lyon Drive. He was pronounced dead at University of Kentucky Hospital.

Whitler is charged with second-degree manslaughter. If convicted, she could face between five and 10 years in prison. She will appear again in Fayette District Court on Sept. 12.
