A woman was in critical condition Wednesday morning after the vehicle she was riding in collided with a Kentucky State Police car that was answering an emergency call, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Ashley Angel, 24, was rushed to University of Kentucky with serious injuries after the crash in Laurel County at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Her husband, Curtis Angel, 26 was treated at St. Joseph Hospital in London and released, according to the hospital.
The Angels, both of McKee, were injured when their Kia sport-utility vehicle collided with a cruiser driver by Parish Baker, a 19-year KSP veteran.
According to initial reports, the wreck occurred as Baker was traveling eastbound on the Hal Rogers Parkway to check on another injury accident.
When Baker's cruiser reached the intersection of Ky. 30, it collided with the Angels' Kia, officers said.
Curtis Angel was driving.
The case remains under investigation.
