Man charged after Pike County shooting

An Eastern Kentucky man was hospitalized Monday afternoon after he was shot in the chest with a high-powered rifle, Kentucky State Police said.

Michael D. Slone, 43, of Pike County, was airlifted to Cabell Huntington Hospital after the shooting about 3:30 p.m. at Valhalla Trailer Park in Millard, state police said.

Timothy D. Adkins, 50, of Millard, was arrested without incident and charged with first-degree assault. He is being held at the Pike County Detention Center.

Information about Slone's condition was not immediately available.
