2 Eastern Ky. men killed in wreck

Two Eastern Kentucky men died Wednesday night following a head-on collision on a Pike County road, Kentucky State Police said.

Richard C. Runyon, 39, of Phelps was driving a 1997 Honda Civic east on Ky. 194 about 7:45 p.m. when he crossed the center line and struck a 1992 Nissan pickup driven by Delaney D. Mapes, 28, also of Phelps.

The men were airlifted to Holston Valley Medical Center where they later died.

State police said they don't know whether the men were wearing seat belts, and police are investigating the cause of the collision.
