Man dies, wife injured in Lincoln Co. crash

A Nicholasville man was killed and his wife badly injured in a crash Sunday evening in Lincoln County.

State police said a 17-year-old girl was driving south on U.S. 27 in a 2000 Dodge pickup when she lost control and slid sideways, slamming into a 1998 Ford Escort.

The driver of the car, Daniel R. Berryman, 23, died at the scene. His wife, Krystal Berryman, 23, was flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center and is in critical condition, state police said in a news release.

There were two children in the car with the Berrymans, but they were in child-safety seats and received only minor injuries, according to state police.

The driver of the truck, whose name was not released, also was treated for minor injuries.

Both drivers and Krystal Berryman were wearing safety belts. Alcohol use is not suspected as a factor in the crash, state police said.

The wreck happened at the top of Hall's Gap shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday.
