Man killed in I-64 wreck

A Central Kentucky man died Thursday of multiple injuries after a wreck on Interstate 64 in Clark County, according to the Fayette County coroner's office.

Larry Prater, 26, of Mt. Sterling, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet pick-up truck eastbound on I-64 about 8:20 p.m. in Winchester when he suddenly swerved from the right to the left lane, Clark County Sheriff Berl Perdue said.

Prater lost control of the truck, and the vehicle struck the median and flipped at least once. The truck landed in the westbound lanes and was struck by an oncoming tractor-trailer.

Prater died about 9:35 p.m. at University of Kentucky Hospital.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Douglas Brown, 50, of Middletown, Ohio, was treated and released at Clark County Regional Medical Center.
