Alcohol suspected in fatal Scott crash

A Stamping Ground woman died late Saturday after a one-car crash near the Scott-Fayette county line, police said.

Beverly Wainscott, 36, was pronounced dead at Georgetown Community Hospital, said Scott County Deputy Sheriff Josh Hutchison.

Wainscott was a passenger in a 1992 Toyota Corolla driven by Joseph Reynolds, 32, also of Stamping Ground, Hutchison said. The car was headed south on Ironworks Road when it lost control and struck a utility pole near Coleman Lane, about 2 miles south of Georgetown.

Reynolds was treated at University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington and discharged.

Hutchison said alcohol is suspected in the crash and that investigators were awaiting the return of blood-alcohol test results.
