An 8-year-old boy was injured Monday morning after he was pinned under a car that struck him on a Frankfort road, police said.

The accident occurred about 6:55 a.m. Monday in the 1000 block of Champion Court in the Silverlake subdivision.

Danny L. Givens, 58, of Frankfort was driving a 1997 Honda that struck the boy, Frankfort police said. The boy, whose name has not been released, was trapped under the car and had to be rescued by the fire department.

He was on his way to a bus stop, police said.

The boy is being treated at a Lexington hospital. He was initially taken to Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
