Lexington man shot in home

- kward1@herald-leader.com

A Lexington man was shot once in the abdomen at his home on Willard Street Monday evening.

Two men barged into the house and pointed a gun at them, demanding money, said Kristopher Thomas, who was staying with the victim, Elliotte D. "Pete" Wilson Jr., 53.

Lt. Scott Blakely of the Lexington police department said the residents of the home "got into a verbal altercation" with the intruders, after which Wilson was shot. He said police were called at 8:13 p.m.

Wilson's wife, Sandy, said she was at the drugstore with her son when she got a call about her husband being shot.

"He didn't even have a chance to protect hisself," Sandy Wilson said.

Wilson said her husband never bothered anybody and didn't deserve to be shot.

Elliotte Wilson was in surgery, hospital officials said about 11 p.m.
