A skunk that bit a Lexington resident last week has tested positive for rabies. The skunk is the fourth Lexington animal to test positive for rabies since July.
The skunk was found last week in North Lexington near Spurr Road. The man was bitten while trying to remove the skunk from a field, the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department said Tuesday.
The department is advising those who live nearby to make sure that their pets have current rabies vaccinations.
The man is being treated by the health department.
In July and August, three bats tested positive for rabies.
