State police seek man accused in Letcher stabbing

- kward1@herald-leader.com

State police are searching for a man who is charged with stabbing another man at a mountaintop mining site in Letcher County Saturday.

Dustin K. Caudill, 25, allegedly stabbed Robert Michael Joseph Arredondo, 32, about five times with a knife while partying at the site off Carbon Glow Road in the Blackey community. Both men live in the community.

Neither man worked at the site, said Sgt. Barry Engle of the state police.

Arredondo was taken to the Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital. He was in the intensive care unit Monday afternoon.

A warrant has been issued for Caudill's arrest. He will face a first-degree assault charge, as well as several other charges.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call state police in Hazard at (606) 435-6069.
