Head-on crash kills Clinton County woman

A Clinton County woman was killed Friday in a head-on crash, state police said.

Betty Jane Cross, 70, was pronounced dead at the Clinton County hospital, according to a news release.

State police said Summer Abston, 16, of Albany was driving north on Wisdom Dock Road when she lost control of her 2006 GMC pickup truck in a curve because of heavy rain and a large amount of oil on the road.

Abston slid into the opposite lane, hitting a 1988 Ford driven by J.D. Cross, 72, of Albany. Betty Jane Cross was a passenger in the Ford.

Abston was released from the Clinton County Hospital after treatment. J.D. Cross was taken to the University of Kentucky Hospital for treatment, state police said.

All the people involved in the wreck were wearing seat belts, police said.
