Viper woman dies in wreck

WHITESBURG — A Viper woman was killed Sunday when the car she was driving crossed a center line in Whitesburg and hit another vehicle, police said.

Jessica Pigg, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 1992 Chevrolet Lumina hit a 2008 Honda Accord driven by David Wittsack, 19, of Mount Pleasant, S.C.

He and three passengers in Pigg's vehicle were taken to the Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.

The passengers were Samantha Brooke Hatton, 15, and Elizabeth Ross, 14, both of Whitesburg, and Barbara Lee, 59, of Thornton.

Ross was later transferred to Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tenn., where her condition was being evaluated Sunday night.
