FBI, ATF agents raid Cynthiana tobacco warehouse

- shopkins@herald-leader.com

CYNTHIANA — A Central Kentucky tobacco warehouse was closed Tuesday as federal agents executed a search warrant, authorities said.

Agents with the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives took business records and copied hard drives at the Farmer's Tobacco Warehouse on U.S. 27 in Cynthiana after asking employees to go home for the day, according to an FBI representative at the warehouse.

FBI spokesman Brett Johnson said he could not discuss details about the case, but Kentucky agents are working in conjunction with federal agents in Mississippi.

Reached by phone, business owner Robert Ammerman referred questions to his attorney, Christie Moore, who said she could not provide any information about the case.

The warehouse is expected to reopen Wednesday.
