Bar fight ends in stabbing

- kward1@herald-leader.com

Two people were sent to the hospital after a bar fight in Marion County early Sunday.

William Bennington, 45, of New Haven, and Johnny Lanham, 46, of New Hope got into an argument at Hawk's Place that resulted in Bennington being stabbed in the abdomen at about 12:23 a.m., state police said.

Bennington was taken by helicopter to University Hospital in Louisville.

Lanham was also taken by helicopter to the hospital after receiving a cut to the eye area.

State police said Lanham got the cut when Anthony Michalski, 22, of Willisburg stepped in to try to break up the fight between Lanham and Bennington.

State police said a warrant for Lanham's arrest was issued, charging him with attempted murder.
