Man dies in Knott crash

A man died in a single vehicle crash in Knott County early Tuesday.

Earl M. Short, 56, was a passenger in a vehicle that had been traveling east on Clear Creek Road just before 4 a.m.

State police said the driver, Michael W. Little, 45, misjudged a curve, which caused the vehicle to skid off the road, and hit a tree.

Short was pronounced dead at the scene.

Little was taken to Hazard ARH Regional Medical Center with internal injuries and then taken by helicopter to the University of Kentucky Hospital.

Neither man was wearing a seat belt.
