Bell County crash kills woman

A woman died in a crash on U.S. 119 in Bell County Tuesday afternoon.

Martha Whitehead, 48, of Pineville was driving north in a Pontiac Grand Am about 1:10 p.m. when her car crossed a double yellow line and collided head-on with a Dodge Ram pickup truck, state police said.

Whitehead, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup, Johnny Noe, 52, was flown to University of Tennessee Medical Center. His passenger, Eric Noe, was treated and released from Pineville Community Hospital.
