About 70 people walked from the Lansdowne Shoppes to Alumni Drive Wednesday in support of sidewalks on Tates Creek Road.
"It's an issue of public safety. People ought to have a safe alternative to driving their car," said Steve Stoltz.
Residents along the road oppose sidewalks because of aesthetics and say sidewalks are not safe on a major thoroughfare like Tates Creek Road.
The Urban County Council takes up the issue at 7 p.m. Thursday in council chambers of the Government Center.
