Woman dies in Pulaski County crash

- kward1@herald-leader.com

A Harlan County woman died and several people were injured in a crash on East Ky. 80 about 14 miles west of Somerset on Tuesday morning.

Sherry E. Madon, 42, of Putney was a passenger in a westbound 1998 Saturn that crossed the center line and hit an eastbound dump truck about 7:20 a.m., according to the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department.

Madon was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, Carl Madon, 50, also of Putney; a 2-year-old child in the car; and the driver of the dump truck, Jerry Creek, 34, of Manchester, were taken to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. Madon was then transferred to University of Kentucky Hospital.

The crash shut down the highway for several hours.
