Trial date set for Lexington Green shooting suspect

- aclark@herald-leader.com

A Fayette Circuit judge set a 2010 trial date for the Lexington man accused of fatally shooting his ex-boyfriend in the Lexington Green parking lot.

Fayette Circuit Judge Kimberly Bunnell scheduled Toby Ray Lasure's trial to start on Jan. 7. It will continue from Jan. 11-14. Lasure, 32, is charged with murder, wanton endangerment, fleeing police and leaving the scene of an accident in the death of Christopher Tolliver on March 5.

Police said Lasure shot Tolliver, 31, twice, and then fled the scene, leading police on a chase across town that ended with a three-hour standoff.

During Friday's status hearing,Bunnell also denied a request to reduce Lasure's $1,010,045 bond. He is being held in Fayette County jail. Lasure's next scheduled court appearance is Oct. 9.
