2-year-old Bracken County girl dies in accident

- shopkins@herald-leader.com

A 2-year-old girl died Sunday in Bracken County after she was struck by a pickup truck driven by a relative, state police said.

William McCarty, 59, was backing up the truck in the driveway at Angel Saunders' home on Willow Lenoxburg Road in Foster when he struck Angel, officials said Tuesday.

She was taken to Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville where emergency room doctors pronounced her dead about 2 p.m. Sunday, state police said.

State police Trooper Rick Saint-Blancard said police are still investigating how the girl got behind the truck. But it appears she left the residence without anyone knowing.

Visitation for Angel is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home in Paris. The funeral is at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
