Incest and sodomy suspect's mom and son indicted by grand jury

- dhjalmarson@herald-leader.com

An incest and sodomy suspect's mother and son have been indicted on charges of jury tampering and threatening a prosecutor, charges that led to a second mistrial in Magoffin County last month.

Gladys Allen, 64, of Royalton, was indicted on one count of retaliating against a participant in the legal process, Magoffin Commonwealth's Attorney Graham Martin. Jarred Allen, 18, was indicted on three counts of jury tampering.

The two were arrested Aug. 12 during the trial of Chester Dean Allen, who is charged with sexual abuse and sodomy of two girls younger than 12. A new trial was scheduled for Chester Allen in Knott County. In 2008, a mistrial was declared because jurors could not agree on a verdict.

The Kentucky Attorney General's office assigned a special prosecutor to Gladys and Jarred Allen because the Magoffin prosecutor is an alleged victim in their case.
