Betty Young: Was involved in a variety of charitable, civic groups

Published: June 7, 2007

Comair Flight 5191 to Atlanta was the first leg of Betty Young's trip on to her condominium in Naples, Fla., for a visit with her two daughters.

Young had lived in Lexington since 1960 and was involved in a myriad of charitable and civic organizations, said her son, James Butler.

For 18 years, she was married to W. Richard Young of Lexington, whose brother was the late businessman W.T. Young.

"Mom was a very expressive person. She entertained a lot of people. She always treated everybody the same, whether it was the governor or a bank teller," Butler said.
