Fayette County Public Schools have not placed and do not plan to place travel restrictions on their athletic teams.

Booster clubs for each team at each school limit scheduling to what they can afford, district athletic director Don Adkins said.

Unlike most school districts in Kentucky, Fayette County does not pay for team travel. Under the present system, the county foots the bill for coaches' salaries only.

The rest is up to booster groups.

But if those groups choose to rent a county school bus, it is going to cost them $2 per mile for out-of-district trips, plus the hourly wage of the driver.

That price is up from last season's $1.35 per mile.

For travel within the school district, there is a flat fee of $130, which is up $40 from last season.
