A Lexington man died Thursday night after a collision between a motorcycle and a van earlier in the evening.

Lawrence D. Goodrich Jr., 30, died at 10:15 p.m. Thursday at University of Kentucky Hospital, according to a release from the Fayette County coroner's office. Lexington police suspect he might have been impaired by alcohol.

Goodrich was driving a 2000 Yamaha motorcycle north on Greendale Road at high speed when he crested a hill and struck a 2005 Chevrolet van in the side, Lexington police said. The posted speed limit is 35 mph.

Doru C. Bratescu, 40, of Shelby Township, Mich., the driver of the van, was not hurt.

The accident happened shortly before 9:30 p.m. at Greendale and Mercer roads on the city's north side.
