DeAndre Liggins
Height, weight: 6-6, 202
Class: Freshman Hometown: Chicago
Role: Point guard of the future in training. Big bonus if the future is now.
Gillispie says: "When he plays pickup, they say his team always wins. That means a lot, especially at the position he's going to attempt to play. With him being able to shoot well, that's the only thing anyone's ever had any concerns about."
Being from Chicago, have you always been a big Bulls fan? Not really. I went to games, but I'm not like a Bulls fan.
What's your favorite team then? Boston
Do you have a favorite player? Kevin Garnett
Have you followed him from team to team or were you a Celtics fan before he arrived? When he came there, I became a Celtics fan.
Do you see yourself as a player like Garnett? In some aspects. How hard he plays, his attitude, and how he approaches the game.
What do you miss about Chicago? Food. Friends. Hanging out with my family. Having fun.
Is there a specific food you really miss? Harold's Chicken. It's a good chicken place that everybody goes to.
Then you went to Las Vegas (Findlay Prep) for a year. What was that like? It was fun. It was a big city, with the lights on 24/7. I just enjoyed Las Vegas and the weather.
Do you think you would want to live in Vegas all the time? Yes. If I buy a house, I'd rather buy one in Vegas. I want to live there.
Was it tough to move? Yeah, you had to think about being away from your family and stuff like that. But you have to do what you have to do to be successful. And I understand that. So that's why I made that move.
How does living in Lexington compare to Chicago and Las Vegas? It's a smaller city. Everything packed in. Vegas is a big city, with a lot of lights and spotlights. In Chicago, it's like Vegas, but some areas are safe and some are not safe. You have to know your surroundings in Chicago, know where you're at. But if you know people, you'll be all right.
