Perry Stevenson
Height, weight: 6-9, 207
Class: Junior Hometown: Lafayette, La.
Role: Shot blocker who enforces no-fly zone around the basket. Provides frontcourt depth.
Gillispie says: "I just think he does things to change games that coaches can't teach. His shot-blocking ability. He's much more mobile than he was. He seems more agile. He hasn't gained a whole lot of weight. But I think he's stronger."
How much do you weigh? I'm about the same: 205 or 206 (pounds).
That's almost 30 pounds more than your listed weight as an incoming freshman. Yet it's not as heavy as you'd like. What are your thoughts on that? I've been trying. But my metabolism is lightning quick.
How are you trying to gain weight? Eating more times a day. Bigger meals.
Yet nothing? Nothing.
How do you deal with that? It's not like eating is a bad thing. I enjoy that part of it.
When you came to Kentucky from your Lafayette, La., home, you noted the adjustment you needed to make. Now your mother and sister live in Kentucky. How is your adjustment to Kentucky going? I've made the transition. It feels like home, now.
How long did it take? I don't know that it was an exact time. I guess it was like an eventual thing. It kind of happened over time.
What's your basketball ambition after UK? Hopefully, playing basketball still. That's a goal of mine. I'm just going to work for it. I understand there's a possibility that won't happen.
How do you hope to make it happen? Work even harder every day. Outwork yourself from the day before. I think it will work.
