AUGUSTA — A Northern Kentucky physician has been indicted on federal charges that he traded drugs for money, sex and pornography.
Milton Brindley, 65, whose office is on Main Street in Augusta, was indicted Thursday by a federal grand jury in London.
He is charged conspiring with others to improperly prescribe hydrocodone and oxycodone pills, as well as other controlled substances.
Brindley, who has practiced medicine for 36 years, made nearly $600,000 from the conspiracy, the indictment said.
The prescriptions were filled at a pharmacy in Kenton County, then distributed in Eastern Kentucky and elsewhere, the indictment said.
The government is asking that Brindley forfeit more than $22,000 in cash that was found in his office, as well as pornographic DVDs and VHS tapes there. It also seeks $13,000 found in his automobile and home.
An indictment tells only one side of a case.
Brindley will appear before a U.S. district court judge in Covington, but a time for the appearance has not been set.
If convicted, Brindley faces a maximum sentence of 20 years.
Brindley's indictment said he distributed prescription drugs to four people who were indicted on drug charges in Bracken and Kenton counties in April, as well as to an undercover officer using the name Wayne Samuels.
