Harlan woman dies in crash

A Harlan County woman died in a crash on U.S. 119 in the Dayhoit area Saturday afternoon.

Mona L. Jones, 33, of Mary Alice, was driving a 1996 Buick Century southbound when she crossed the center line and hit a GMC Jimmy at 2:53 p.m., state police said.

Jones, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her passenger, Gary Brock, 56, also of Mary Alice, was flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where he was listed in serious condition Saturday night.

The driver of the Jimmy, Brandy Winn, 27, of Wallins, was flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center, where she was listed in fair condition Saturday night.

Two passengers in Winn's vehicle, Seth Winn, 28, of Wallins, and an eleven-month-old baby, were not seriously injured and were treated at the scene of the crash, state police said.
