A former deputy judge-executive in Magoffin County will be sentenced to at least 10 years in prison after admitting he tried to entice a 14-year-old girl to have sex with him, U.S. Attorney James Zerhusen announced Thursday.

Walter Edward Hardin, 28, pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of enticement and one count of receiving child pornography, Zerhusen's office said in a news release.

Hardin had sexually explicit chats online with what he thought was a 14-year-old Lexington cheerleader for several months last year, but the person was an undercover officer from Kentucky State Police.

Hardin arranged to meet the girl for sex in Lexington. State police detectives arrested him when he showed up, according to a news release.

Police also found images of child pornography on Hardin's work computer.
