Thoughts and news from the Lexington Baha'is.

The New Year and other Happy Events

By Bahai on 04/06/09 09:15

Hello everybody,

Sorry I have been so absent. Since the last post, the Bahá’ís of Lexington have celebrated Naw-Ruz, or the New Year, on the evening of March 20th. We held a party at the Communality House where Persian food, lasagna and other treats were served. The house was packed! And what diversity; you would think this was the United Nations headquarters. J Here http://www.bahai-library.org/encyclopedia/nawruz.html is a link to read more on Naw Ruz and its significance.

For a many of the friends, this was the last day of Fasting. Most of the Bahá’ís had been fasting from sunrise to sunset for 19 days, from March 2nd. I say “most”, because some people are exempted from fasting, like myself because I am nursing a baby. Again, for more information on fasting, please see this link; http://www.bahai-library.org/encyclopedia/fasting.html.

What exciting time for the children who love parties and glitter and treats!
