A parents' guide to select new movies:
'Hannah Montana: The Movie'
Rating: G.
What it's about: Miley's gone too Hollywood, so Dad takes her to Tennessee for a little "Hannah detox."
The Kid Attractor Factor: Hannah Montana. And Miley Cyrus.
Good lessons/bad lessons: "Life's a climb, but the view's great."
Violence: Slapstick.
Language: Disney clean.
Sex: Barely a smooch.
Drugs and alcohol: Not on your life.
Parents' advisory: Nothing here that you won't see on the Disney Channel TV show. Small-child friendly.
'Observe & Report'
Rating: R for pervasive language, graphic nudity, drug use, sexual content and violence.
What it's about: A socially awkward bipolar jerk runs security at a mall and dreams of cracking a case, winning the girl and becoming a "real cop."
The Kid Attractor Factor: Seth Rogen, Anna Faris, and it's set in a mall.
Good lessons/bad lessons: "There's no shame in going after your dreams."
Violence: A graphic shooting, beatings, bone-snappings.
Language: Filthy.
Sex: Yes, and full-frontal male nudity.
Drugs and alcohol: Cocaine, pills and alcohol.
Parents' advisory: It's the Mall Cop Strikes Back, a dark, violent and not-family-friendly stab at the same subject (with similar characters and plot) as Paul Blart: Mall Cop.
