Automotive supplier ArvinMeritor plans to close a plant in Northern Kentucky later this year, affecting 129 employees.

The company said it plans to move its Carrollton wheel-end assembly operations to other sites in Kentucky and Ohio. It will outsource its machining and casting center operations.

"The continued weakness in the global markets has driven the company to aggressively reduce costs to lower its break-even point," Wayne Watson, general manager of North American operations, said in a statement. "Closing the Carrollton operation is another necessary step toward improving the company's overall cost structure."
