Frank Beum has been named forest supervisor for the Daniel Boone National Forest.
Regional Forester Liz Agpaoa announced Beum's appointment Friday.
Beum started working for the Forest Service as a seasonal employee in 1981. He has worked in a number of national forests. Since 2007, he has been a legislative affairs specialist in the agency's Washington office.
He has a degree from Ohio State University, and he said that one of his favorite memories from college was spending a week hiking in the Red River Gorge.
He and his wife Jan have two sons, ages 10 and 17. He will begin his new job Aug. 3.
