EPA assesses storm water penalties

Three Kentucky entities cited for violating the federal Clean Water Act since October 1 have reached settlements with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and agreed to pay civil penalties totaling $25,500, the EPA said Thursday. The violations related to storm water, and the affected organizations are:

■ The Boone County Board of Education will pay a $7,000 penalty for alleged violations at Longbranch High School in Union.

■ Drees Company Inc., a homebuilder, will pay $15,000 for alleged violations at the Harmony subdivision in Union.

■ Fowler Reese LLC, will pay $3,500 for alleged violations at Hickory Valley subdivision in Independence.
