WKYT's T.G. Shuck home from hospital

July 20, 2009

T.G. Shuck, chief meteorologist at WKYT (Channel 27), left Central Baptist Hospital on Monday morning after being readmitted last week with complications from an appendix surgery.

"It depends on how he's feeling, but he very well could be back on the air as soon as the end of this week," WKYT news director Robert Thomas said. "But most likely, it will be next Monday."

Shuck's absence has had an unintended consequence that has turned into a welcome sight for many longtime WKYT viewers: former station meteorologist Chris Bailey has returned to help fill the void.

Bailey, who now works for WSAZ in Huntington, W.Va., filled in for Shuck on Friday and is scheduled to fill in again on Monday and Tuesday nights. Shuck's usual fill-in, WKYT meteorologist Lauren Raymer, was off because of a family commitment.
