A Pulaski County woman was killed and her husband injured in a wreck about 12 miles west of Somerset.

Denzil L. Pitman, 39, of Nancy, was driving a 1999 Mitsubishi eastbound on Ky. 196 at about 2 p.m. Thursday when he lost control of the car and hit a ditch, according to the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department. The car then overturned on the road. Pitman and his wife, Laura R. Pitman, 36, of Nancy, were thrown from the car.

Laura Pitman was pronounced dead at the scene by the Pulaski County coroner's office. Denzil Pitman was taken to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital then flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
