Some employees of Affiliated Computer Services Inc., which has 2,000 employees in Lexington and 1,000 elsewhere in Kentucky, will take a temporary 4 percent pay cut, a company spokesman confirmed Monday.

The pay reduction applies only to salaried employees making more than $50,000 a year, Kevin Lightfoot said. Those employees will revert to their old salaries at the end of the company's fiscal year late next June, he said.

Although those employees will take home smaller paychecks, they are being compensated with an extra two weeks of paid vacation.

About 15 percent of the Dallas-based company's employees are affected by the reduction, Lightfoot said. He did not know how many were in Kentucky.

The company has four sites in Lexington. Other sites include London, Pikeville and Richmond.

Word of the salary reduction came last week, shortly before the company released fourth-quarter financial results that beat analysts' expectations.

Lightfoot said the company is "doing well because we watch all of our expenses."
