Viewers of the morning news on CBS affiliate WKYT (Channel 27) have begun seeing a new face.
Stacy Ellison is now co-anchoring the 5-7 a.m. newscasts with Bill Bryant, as longtime anchor Barbara Bailey shifts schedules.
Bailey will continue to anchor the noon news with Bryant. The two moved to the morning news shift in 2006 and have helped increase its viewership dramatically.
"She wanted a change in her responsibilities and work schedule," WKYT news director Robert Thomas said. "Because of Barbara's longtime service and dedication to this station, we wanted to accommodate her request."
Ellison joined WKYT in 2007 as a morning traffic reporter and has since reported and been a fill-in anchor. She previously worked at stations in Macon, Ga., and Jacksonville, Fla.
"I am excited to build on the very strong foundation that Bill and Barbara have already established," Ellison said in a statement.
Regional Emmys awarded
The Ohio Valley Regional Emmys were recently awarded, and Lexington stations brought home several.
Among them, though, was quite a surprise.
Chase Cain, formerly of NBC affiliate WLEX (Channel 18), won the best weather anchor category for his work there. Cain, who had done field and studio weather work on occasion in addition to reporting, beat out WLEX chief meteorologist Bill Meck, WKYT chief meteorologist T.G. Shuck and Monty Webb, chief meteorologist at Louisville's WHAS. Cain now works at that station as a reporter and is studying meteorology through a program at Mississippi State University.

Comings and goings
Cheryl Glassford, who learned earlier this year that her contract at ABC affiliate WTVQ (Channel 36) would not be renewed, has been hired by WKYT for Andy Cunningham's old job. Cunningham left recently for a job at a station in San Antonio.
Glassford will start at the end of the month.
Also, WTVQ has hired a new reporter. Alissa Dos Santos started last week. She last worked at WLKY in Louisville as an associate producer and assignment editor.
